Lockdown Listening: Number One Podcasts for Carers

We want to make sure the carers and keyworkers are well-looked after during and post-pandemic, so we’ve hand-picked our favourite podcasts for carers from across the globe.

Being a carer can be an incredibly rewarding task but is often a tiring and overwhelming one as well. Carers UK reports that 1 in 8 adults (around 6.5 million people) are carers, of which 58% are women. As of 2020, Carers UK estimates there are approximately 13.6 million people caring through the pandemic.

The start to the twenties has been a rollercoaster, to say the least, but it’s important we keep our minds, bodies and spirits fighting fit throughout the pandemic. Podcasts have been a blessing for many, offering a friendly voice for those multitasking three or even four jobs at home, or a welcome distraction while cooking, cleaning and showering. Podcasts are at an all-time high, with Acast reporting that during the first lockdown there was a 49% increase in new podcasts being created.

Whether you like to soak in a bubble bath or switch off the world with a 5-mile run, self-care is vital when performing as a carer. The rise in carers throughout the pandemic has seen a rise in podcasts dedicated to the lives and responsibilities of being a carer, everywhere from Central London to Ontario. We want to make sure the carers and keyworkers are well-looked after during and post-pandemic, so we’ve hand-picked our favourite podcasts for carers from across the globe.
