It’s no secret that Majority is dedicated to becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral audio brand. As part of our plan to be a climate positive workforce, we partnered with Ecologi to fight against climate change by growing the Majority Forest. For every product we sell, we plant a tree on Ecologi’s tree planting sites in Madagascar, Nicaragua, and Mozambique.
Since joining forces in January 2021 with Ecologi to help them achieve their goal of 1 billion trees, the Majority Forest has planted over 340,000 trees and removed 36.17 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. That’s equivalent to 28 long haul flights!
Giving Back…
Not only are we supporting reforestation in East Africa and Central America, but our contributions are also providing an eco-forward future for several other regions. This month we have supported EnviroFit’s project to distribute 300,000 fuel-efficient cookstoves in households across Honduras. The new cookstoves improve heat transfer efficiency, reducing the amount of wood required to prepare a meal which reduces the amount of wood required to cook. The project reduces the demand for biomass fuel, leading to a reduction in the rate of deforestation via wood consumption. The fuel-efficient stoves offer a reduction in emissions from fuel combustion, improving the air quality within the home and reducing the emissions of the harmful gases contributing to climate change. Our contribution has assisted to remove 1.1 tonnes of CO2.
Additionally, Majority have supported Swiss Carbon Value’s project to turn waste biogas into electricity in Thailand. To mitigate greenhouse gas emissions caused by the decomposition of wastewater and converting it to electricity in newly installed engines, this project is capturing biogas from wastewater and converting it to electricity in newly installed engines. By installing a digester between the exiting sump pit and the lagoons, the wastewater is treated with the subsequent captured methane used as biogas for electricity production. The project reduces greenhouse gas emissions by capturing the biogas before it enters the atmosphere and converting it into electricity. The electricity is then used to replace the fossil fuel energy which powers the TSML boilers. Our contribution has helped to remove 5.4 tonnes of CO2.
