    Great internet radio

Bought this for DAB and FM radio but have found the Internet Radio has much better consistent audio quality than either. Anything on BBC Sounds is available. Brilliant! Also plays High quality audio codec s from USB.

    Great Sound, Easy to Use.

I purchased this to replace on old Avox receiver that was about to cease operation. It was working fine, but the internet portal that provided its function was about to shut down leaving it about as useful as a house brick. I needed a replacement urgently and this looked good value and does everything I needed, plus some more. However, I was not expecting the receiver to be as good as it has proved to be. We live in a very poor reception area for radio where FM without a roof aerial is non-existent, and DAB only just about works on the strongest stations. You can imagine how surprised I was when starting up the Fitzwilliam and scanning DAB to discover that it found everything on the local multiplexes in great quality – well great for DAB. FM still was not able to provide a peep. Still, with DAB and Internet Radio I was well pleased. The unit is so easy to set up and was soon pulling off stations from the internet, of which there are literally thousands to choose from.

I have been an audio enthusiast for most of my adult life and, in my working days, managed Hi-Fi stores and even worked as an audio engineer for a period. So all this to say I know a good piece of kit when I see (and hear) it. Obviously it’s not going to perform as well as kit costing four or five times its price, but how Majestic, a UK company, is able to do it for this price amazes me. Yes, the screen is a little small and fiddly for sorting through large collections of music stored on a local NAS, but it does the job really well and plays all my FLAC files and sounds great. Incidentally, I play the unit through my Yamaha amp and B&W CM1 speakers. The product was designed in Cambridge and built overseas, so it was nice to be able to support a British company.

    Great Value And Price

This is the second internet tuner I have bought over the last 18 months & I have to say I wish I had bought this first instead of the one previous bought which I won’t mention here, First the sound quality it’s first rate if you have a digital amp that’s when this unit comes into it’s own it has two digital outputs optical and coaxial I use both on my amp in fact the online radio stations sound better than DAB in most cases, It is best using the WPS button if your router if it has one and use the WPS in the unit’s menu saves having to put in the long digit code that can come with some routers, Then to get the very best form online radio stations is to create an account with Frontier Nuvola then you can add your own stream URL if you know the http address, When you have the unit all set up select your own personal sound settings in the Equalizar settings believe me it makes such a difference! I noticed straight away my settings are Bass 4 and Treble 8 one tip is when you are happy with the sound settings just leave it while the screen goes back to where you left it the unit will save the settings you have made. The only small gripe I have with the unit is this and that is the telescopic aerial at the back I can understand why Majority have done this, But it would have been good if they had left the user a choice of using an outdoor DAB/FM aerial I understand it can be removed to use a rooftop DAB aerial but Majority don’t advise you do this shame really, All in all “Great Value At A Very Good Price” Grab one you won’t be disapointed.
