This is the second Majority internet radio I have purchased, and it is a great piece of kit. Easy to set up – I was online and listening to music in a couple of minutes – with crisp sound. Good controls, although it is easiest to use the remote to navigate and do things like set the alarm. Better DAB reception too than my previous radio.
Delivery was within a couple of days, and I think the unit is great value. Just need to try out the CD player now!
Highly recommended.

I’ve been looking for a compact CD player that’ll fit with my decor so I can play my old CD’s that just aren’t on streaming services. I came across the Majority Homerton 2 and given its array of functionality, looks, and price, I thought I’d give it a spin. It arrived well packed and when I took it out of the box I was surprised by its weight and how sturdy it felt. Once fired up it launched into the setup wizard which is pretty simple to do and took less than 5 minutes. With some 80’s tunes on the CD player, I thought I’d better read the instructions. The instructions are online and accessed with the QR code on the box which is a great sustainable touch. They are detailed and easy to follow, but to be honest the Homerton 2 is really intuitive so most people probably won’t need them. All of the functions can be accessed on the remote (which has a lovely ‘click’ to it) or on the front of the unit, but it also has an app, which is probably how I’ll use it. The app is really good, and again the set-up was so easy – I think the only thing you can’t do on the app is eject a CD! The Homerton 2 sounds great for its size and although I’ll be integrating it into my current audio eco-system via the jack on the back, it’s good to know it can belt out a tune. And the connectivity available is better than some systems that are far more expensive – you’ve USB, jacks in and out, Bluetooth (which has great range) and Spotify connect. And on top of that you get a podcast player and the internet radio, neither of which I knew I needed but now absolutely love. Both are simple to use, even more so on the app and there is so much to explore. So all in all I’d thoroughly recommend the Homerton 2 to anyone looking for a dab/internet radio / CD player that’s affordable, flexible and has some oomph.

We live in an area where radio reception is, to put it mildly problematic. The reception of both DAB and FM radio is variable across the house. I have for two years used a Majority Peterhouse Internet radio in the spare room at the back of the house and been delighted as I can’t get a DAB or FM signal there! We wanted to improve the quality of the reception in the lounge at the back of the house and having the option to play CDs and have a Bluetooth speaker all in one package with the Internet radio was a major attraction. It all arrived a couple of days ago via Amazon so this represents my experience at that time.
Opening the package it was all there- including the batteries for the remote control! There is no manual in the box and that comes as a download but to be honest I got it up and running following the on-screen prompts. The Internet radio required linking to our wi-fi network but that took seconds and has proved rock solid. The range of stations available is enormous but we have a few favourites so they were quickly and easily added. I took the unit into the front bedroom, where DAB and FM reception is best and that all worked equally well using the aerial on the rear of the unit.
Playing CDs is simply a matter of selecting CDs on the remote, slotting them into the front of the unit and away you go. The display shows the track number and today’s date as well as a CD symbol. Press the BT (Bluetooth) button on the remote and the unit becomes a Bluetooth speaker for your phone/tablet after it has been paired from the remote. Press that button again and the podcast menu opens up. The options are wide and I found my favourites there easily using the on-screen menus. In the spirit of a full review I tried out Spotify which I don’t normally use– two presses of the Internet radio button on the remote – and it uses the unit as a speaker from your phone/tablet. The one option I have not used and probably never will is the USB playback. Partly because the socket is at the back of the unit and secondly because I do not know why I would need it as I have nothing on a USB that I can’t get from the other functions – but that’s me!
The big thing about this unit is the sound quality, Perhaps because the case is wooden or perhaps it is because the speakers face upward but the sound is really good and it does not vary with the source. There is an equaliser function via the remote to tune that to your taste. Overall it looks good and when switched to standby shows an analogue clock. This brings me to my only criticism. Switching off with the remote leaves the unit on and there is no proper “off” switch on the unit so I have to switch it off at the wall. But despite that, this is an excellent buy!
