Robert –
Great little radio, I had wanted a radio for general use outdoors and to have on the shelf in my study. It arrived quickly, slightly smaller than I expected, came nicely packaged with a usb charging cable. All plastic construction apart from the metal speaker cover and aerial but seems sturdy and well built. Turned on and tuned in straight away using the radial tuning dial and extendable aerial, first impressions were that it is very much in the mould of radios from back in the 80s/90s but with better sound and build quality. Tuning was easy using the dial, although given the small tuning range scale it means the stations are quite bunched together, still easy to get a good signal with the extendable aerial rather than the internal or wire aerials that some radios come with. One thing is that the volume dial on the side is counter-intuitive, spinning up to turn the volume down and vice-versa. Not a massive issue really. Has a fold-out carry handle at the back but the unit is small enough to be easily portable anyway. Very handy for picnics or walks with the kids, who find it a novelty that it has to be tuned in to each radio station, bless them! Battery life is excellent, 10hrs is more than enough, and it is super handy that it is rechargeable via usb rather than needing to search the kitchen drawers endlessly for AA or AAA batteries. It seems excellent value for money given that a lot of these types of portable radios out there seem a little cheap and nasty. I have had numerous radios in the past which haven’t stood much abuse. This, on the other hand, is a little radio that is a lot more robust, and sounds a lot better too.
