Great little speakers - perfect for my needs

    Christopher Pettet

Having had these for a couple of weeks now, I thought it was time for a review.

I purchased these to attach to my Korg i3 Music Workstation and I must say the clarity of the sound is great!

With 3 different inputs (optical, aux and Bluetooth) as well as a microSD slot and usb port (not sure if it’s USB 2 or USB 3, probably USB 2) these speakers can suit virtually anyone’s needs for almost any audio purpose.

Just connect your phone or other Bluetooth device and you have yourself a nice little booster to you phone, tablet, MP3 or other connected device. The connection produces clear audio with virtually no lag, at least from close range anyway (within 5m).

Connect any external audio device that has outputs (like my Korg i3) via the 3.5mm aux input.

Connect your Blu Ray player using the optical connection to listen to your movies with stunning clarity; you could even add them to your current audio system to use them as surround or even ATMOS speakers; no need to spend out hundreds on special ATMOS upward facing speakers.

What you can do with these speakers, for the price, is simply astounding so why not give them a try; you can always return them using Amazon’s return service with no cost to you if they do not suit you or you find the quality to be unsuitable!

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely!

I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THE MANUFACTURER OF ANY PRODUCT I REVIEW AND ALL MY REVIEWS ARE UNBIASED AND TRUE.

    Another excellent Majority product.

These speakers are amazing, connectivity is brilliant and easy and the sound quality is as rich and clear as I expected from a Majority product having purchased several before. The remote control is a really nice touch allowing you to control the treble and bass, volume and mode, on or off and mute with ease. I really like these speakers.

    Unbelievable Sound For The Money!

    Tim

Majority D40 Active Bookshelf Speakers Pair of Powered Stereo HiFi Book Ends with Amp and Multiple Audio & Sound Options, Ideal for Home Theatre, Gaming, Laptops/Desktop, Cabinet, Computer/PC Speakers

OK, I’m a big fan of Majority products as I own their Oakington (an all-in-one, CD player, DAB/DAB+ digital, FM and Bluetooth radio) which gives some of the big names a run for their money; also, their Shelford, a retro-style DAB radio; and their Towers multi-region DVD player – sooo useful if you’re of a certain age and like imported DVDs. As you can tell: I have many years of using a variety of media; so I must be a reasonable judge of sound quality by now!

Majority D40 loudspeakers – purchased from Amazon, delivery was supposed to be Sunday; arrived early on Thursday! Brilliantly packaged and contains everything you need, even batteries for the remote. Connection is intuitive, but there is a good, small paper manual. Onto my desk and connected to my new laptop in minutes. The first thing that strikes me is the excellent build quality of these two speakers. They are solid, carefully and intelligently constructed with bass and tweeter cones. And they look beautiful! I have a lot of vintage, black sound equipment and the D40s look class, too.

As other users have noted, the inputs for these active speakers (you don’t need an amplifier) are very generous. On switching on a pleasant voice informed me that I was in BlueTooth mode. No mains hum. This is not a trivial point, because so many manufacturers seem to struggle with this. I used the aux cable (supplied) and started YouTube on my laptop. Stunning sound compared to the laptop, of course. Downloaded music and videos on my laptop – amazing! The D40 sounds better than any cheap (and some not so cheap) computer speakers. The remote control has bass and treble adjustment (as well as volume) and a reset button. I love this feature as you can easily adjust to the source and your listening environment. There are just not enough hours in the day to listen to great music!

Now on my second day of D40 ownership: I turned my iPhone BT on and connection was made easily and quickly. I’ve listened to AmazonMusic, SoundCloud and now Spotify. These are songs I love and know well. Sound is crystal clear. Stereo separation is superb and the sound stage is stable – these are fab speakers!

If I was asked what these are worth, then I would say £120 would be a fair price. These cost £60 at Amazon which is an absolute snip. I’ve only had these for a couple of days, but I will edit if I experience any problems – which I don’t expect from past experience. Majority are UK based and easy to contact. Their website is interesting, especially their history. I like to support home-grown enterprises. These speakers come with a one-year warranty. You can register your product for free and this is extended to three years. (My Oakington is over 3 years’ old and still looks and functions like new.)

    Any questions, then please ask!

    100% satisfied customer!
